Our Mission and Vision

Established in 2017, we are a UK charity inspiring and equipping the local church to reach older people with the gospel, disciple them as followers of Jesus, and mobilise them in God’s mission.

Our mission is rooted in Psalm 92...

“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, proclaiming, ‘The Lord is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.’

Psalm 92:13-14

What we do

We inspire and equip seniors workers and church leaders to reach, disciple, and mobilise older people through excellent seniors ministry by providing them with:

  • Networking events for people in seniors ministry roles to share experience

  • Expert-led webinars on key issues such as ageism, loneliness, dementia, how to share the gospel with older people, and the importance of retiring well

  • Support for church leaders and teams who need bespoke guidance

  • Signposting to helpful resources through our website and social media channels

  • In person talks and seminars at conferences and leaders’ gatherings

  • A lively WhatsApp group for prayer, support, and ideas

  • Blogs and videos sharing latest guidance and best practice in seniors ministry

We also provide a Christian voice on the value of older people and the church’s impact, and we address societal issues such as ageism and loneliness. We do this through broadcast, printed, and online Christian and secular media, and often in partnership with Christian projects such as Empowering Communities, Christians in Care, and Christians Together Against Loneliness.

Our vision

As the UK population continues to age, our vision is to see communities enriched and older peoples’ lives eternally transformed as churches are inspired and equipped to:

  • Urgently reach older people with the gospel

  • Disciple them as followers of Jesus

  • Mobilise them in God's mission

We see the church as a loving family which champions and facilitates ageing as a season rich in spiritual significance, deepening devotion, and purposeful service.

Connected and supported

We are non-denominational, and we subscribe to the Evangelical Alliance Basis of Faith.

In 2025 Faith in Later Life was generously supported in prayer and financially by individual givers and churches, our partners London City Mission, The Salvation Army, Pilgrims Friend Society, and Keychange, as well as through grants awarded to us by Benefact Trust, Garfield Weston Foundation, Bishop Radford Trust, Jerusalem Trust, and Sir Halley Stewart Trust.

We are in membership with the Evangelical Alliance, a Body in Association of Churches Together in England, and Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, an associate member of Affinity, and a partner of the Church Urban Fund.

Strong relationships with others in the later life and faith sectors magnify our joint gospel impact. Our recent collaborations include Spring Harvest, Retiring Well, God TV, Hope Together, Premier Christian Radio, Baptists Together, TWRUK, Jennifer Bute, United Christian Broadcasters, The Presbyterian Church in Ireland, Embracing Age, Ben Boland, Christianity.org, J John, and Connections at Holy Trinity Claygate.

We are tremendously thankful to all those who enable us to achieve our goals and support us, as together we champion faith in later life across the UK.
